Team Preview: Spain

Spain:
Fifa World Ranking: 8
Fixtures: Portugal 6/15, Iran 6/20, Morocco 6/25
Key Player: David De Gea
Coach: Julen Lopetegui

New manager Julen Lopetegui comes into this World Cup under enormous pressure to return Spain to the top of international football. The six year run for Spain from 2008-2012 is one of the greatest in international football history. Winning the Euros twice in 2008 and 2012 and winning the World Cup in South Africa in 2010. But two consecutive poor results at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2016 euros ended up with famed manager Vincente Del Bosque out of the job. New Spain manager Julian Lopetegui stormed through the qualifying stage not losing a single match with only one draw against the Italians. The Spaniards will rely a lot on the shot stopping ability of the consensus number keeper in the world David De Gea. At club level he consistently saves points for Manchester United and will most likely have to do the same for Spain. The expectations for Spain will be high due to how they have looked as of late and they will definitely come into the tournament as one of the favorites.
