Team Preview: France
France:
Fifa World Ranking: 7
Fixtures: Australia 6/16, Peru 6/21, Denmark 6/26
Key Player: Antoine Griezmann
Coach: Didier Deschamps
After a heart breaking Euro 2016 loss on home turf, France come into Russia as one of the favorites to win it all. The expectations will be fierce from French supporters after losing to a Portuguese side without Cristiano Ronaldo in the Euro 2016 final. With arguably the most talented squad in the whole tournament they should be looking at the semi finals or beyond. The key player in this squad is Basque center forward Antoine Griezmann. The Atleti forward has been dominant for club and country over the last couple years. In 2017 the forward finished 3rd in the Ballon Dor race behind of course Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He has been rumored with a move away from Atleti with Barcelona sniffing around and surely a good performance at the World Cup would not hurt his chances of moving to the Nou Camp. A semi final finish or further is the realistic expectation for this France side and probably if not achieved, could see the end of Didier Deschamps' spell for Les Blues.
